ABSTRACT

Coronavirus remains an important public health issue both nationally and globally, so all healthcare professionals including nurses should have a good knowledge and attitudes for educating their patients about Coronavirus and provide appropriate referral and support mechanisms to minimize the complication of disease [1]. COVID-19 is an emerging, rapidly changing global health challenge affecting all sectors [2, 3]. The Health Care Workers (i.e. HCWs) are not only at the forefront of the fight against this highly infectious disease but are also directly or indirectly affected by it and the likelihood of acquiring this disease is higher among HCWs compared to the general population [4]. Therefore, it is importance that HCWs across the world have adequate knowledge and good attitudes about all aspects of the disease from clinical manifestation, diagnosis, proposed treatment and established prevention strategies. In this manuscript, a descriptive design study was conducted from 1st April to June 2021. The study samples consisting of 90 nurses were purposively selected in three hospitals (Al-Khansa Teaching Hospital, Ibn Sina Teaching Hospital, and Telafer General Hospital) in Mosul city The objectives of this study are to assess the knowledge and attitudes of nurses about the Covid19 using the multi attribute decision making technique where the data have been adapted and reconstructed to be as triangular single-valued neutrosophic numbers (TSVNN) and tackled these (TSVNN) into the neutrosophic structured element (NSE). It is well known that the neutrosophic theory has flexible tools to analyze data utilized in dozens of fields of science such as but not limited to medicine, engineering, economics, healthcare, physics…etc. In this manuscript, the authors were very felicitous to choose an uncertain mathematical environment named neutrosophic theory to use it as a strong method in decision making technique to measure the performance of the nurses and their attitude in three Iraqi hospitals during a specific period of time where Covid19 has spread and was in its peak. The decision-making with multi-attribute criteria containing truth membership, indeterminate membership, and falsity membership is regarded as the core of the neutrosophic decisions. The neutrosophic theory used to handle uncertain, vague, incomplete, and inconsistent data or information which already exist in our daily life © 2023,Neutrosophic Sets and Systems. ABSTRACT

BACKGROUND: All hospitals are required to provide high-quality pain management; one of the most critical issues in achieving high-quality pain management is that the hospitals have a clear plan to manage the patients' pain and improve the nurses' awareness of pain management during the COVID 19 pandemic. However, there is a significant gap in the literature that this study can cover. AIM: This study aimed to investigate the mediating effect of model-based learning on nurses' attitudes toward nurses' pain management awareness during the COVID 19 pandemic in Saudi Arabia government hospitals. METHOD: The Heath Beliefs Model was used, with a quasi-experimental design, with per experimental one group pre-test post-test design, and a quantitative approach using self-administered questionnaires obtained from 330 nurses working with patients suffering from pain. IBM SPSS V23 and Analysis of Moment Structures (AMOS)V23 were applied to analyze the causal relationships between the variables. RESULTS: A two-step approach to analyze the study: the first step was to test the measurement models' constructs' reliability and validity. The second step was to test research hypotheses in the structural models. The results show a significant positive relationship between model-based learning and pain management awareness among nurses during COVID 19 pandemic. Furthermore, model-based learning fully mediated the relationship between nurses' attitudes and pain management awareness. CONCLUSIONS: The study successfully improved nurses' attitudes toward pain management awareness among nurses during COVID 19 pandemic. These findings will help strengthen the debate in the existing literature, and this is a new development window in the pain management area.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVE: To investigate the knowledge, perceptions, and attitude of young doctors and nurses at Kind Abdulaziz University Hospital (KAUH) Jeddah, KSA, regarding the effectiveness of telemedicine in dealing with the patients for either follow-up or continuous monitoring of chronic diseases. MATERIAL AND METHODS: This prospective cross-sectional study was carried out on the young doctors and nursing staff at KAUH. An online questionnaire addressing all the required fields, i.e., background essential demography, perceptions, acceptance, and knowledge regarding telemedicine's utility, was sent to the targeted population of health care workers. Completed responses were analyzed statistically as per study objectives. RESULTS: The response rate in our study was 85%. A total of 335 participants responded to our questionnaire. One hundred seventy-one (51.1%) were doctors, whereas one hundred sixty-four (48.9%) were the nursing staff. Among doctors, 50 (29.4%) were recent graduates, whereas, in the nursing side, 77 (46.7%) were the senior nursing students. The knowledge and attitude of the young nursing staff were relatively better than the senior staff taking part in the study and the trends were found statistically significant. CONCLUSION: Our study participants, being young, were enthusiastic, had good knowledge regarding the advantages and limitations of telemedicine in managing the selected groups of patients. Their perception and attitude were quite positive. This is an encouraging trend in the promotion of telemedicine as an established way of managing patients with special requirements in an effective way. The ongoing COVID-19 pandemic has highlighted the importance of telemedicine in emergencies to protect both patients and health care workers by reducing chronic patients' avoidable hospital visits.
